Bird Song Fills The Garden

   What a great evening
I'm sitting by the pond watching the most amazing sun set across the fens and all I can hear is bird song, the swifts are swooping around the cottages giving out those long screams as they hunt for insects, they are nesting across the road from us in the roof of one of the small terrace cottages, we have our house martins here again this year above our bedroom window, I'm looking forward to hearing them chatter late in the evenings when I go to bed, yet another of my favourite summer sounds.
There is a song thrush singing his heart out on the cherry tree and it seems like every finch in the area is competing in the conifer sing off, I can see three green finches and the sounds of at least two more further up the garden, we are so lucky here, yes the main village road passes but after 7pm it's back to the quiet village life and just the sounds of the countryside around us.
I've been beating myself up all day after loosing my phone, I still can't believe I did that but at least walking those lanes looking for it made for good exercise.
As the dusk settles I'm hoping I'll be spotting some bats, they seem to love hunting over the ponds in the late evenings, they miss us by just feet, it's as if they don't notice us or they no we won't harm them as they feed, which ever it is I always feel very lucky they use our garden.
Ok, enough of me going on, it's time for a cuppa, enjoy your evening.
